The Albert Lea Knights 10AA Baseball team took 1st place in MBT State Tournament in Apple Valley on July 15-17, 2011 with a 4 run bottom of the last inning to win the championship from the Delano Tigers 4-3.
The 10AA team also took 2nd place in the MSF State tournament in Rosemount, and 3rd place in the Gopher State of Champions tournament in Brooklyn Park.
The combined record of the team was 34-6 with a run ratio of +286.
The team averaged 10.6 runs per gameand only gave up an average of 3.6 runs per game over the 40 game span. This team also won the Mason City Iowa Hardee’s Early Bird Classic , Rochester Classic, Albert Lea Invitational tournaments and Earned a 2nd place finishin the Eden Prairie invitational tournament.
The Motto of this team is“put the pedal to the metal” which means keep the pressure on your opponents through aggressive but clean all around play. The team takes pride in never arguing with the umps and not letting a negative play or call get themdown.
